StevieRay Latham is a British artist and musician working between London and North Devon. Drawing inspiration from both personal and collective narratives, StevieRay explores the intersection of dreams and reality, family memories, and imagination. His work delves into how our sense of history, identity, and shared experience is shaped by the interplay between documented archives and the stories passed down through generations.

Latham's artistic root includes a variety of sources: family photo albums, digital images shared through messaging apps, forgotten files on hard drives, and traditional folk archives. Through these diverse materials, he brings to light the often-overlooked experiences of working-class culture and the social fabric that binds communities.

His artistic process is itself a layered exploration of memory. He builds his pieces using a combination of techniques: charcoal drawings, washes of ink, screen and digital prints, and layers of acrylic and oil paint. This layering allows him to reference, trace, and erase, creating a final work that evokes a sense of the original photograph while adding a new dimension of time and interpretation.

Latham's artistic scope extends beyond painting. He incorporates sound pieces, found objects, and installations to further explore themes of nostalgia and melancholy. Additionally, his passion for oral histories manifests in his songwriting, where British folklore and family legends become integral parts of his artistic identity.
